Nurturing the Spirit through Art and Adventure
Join us for a week of arts camp right here in our neighborhood! July 5 - 9
Specially designed for girls ages 8 – 14, centered around creativity and core strengths. Enjoy visual art, dance, games and friendship. Our special focus will be on Intuition, and learning to read your own internal compass more clearly, to help you create more of what you want from life. Girls experience an amazing expansion of their perceptive abilities at this time in their lives. With a little coaching, these gifts can bring greater joy, friendship, freedom, and trust in our selves and each other.
And our featured art project this year will be Wearable Art ! Campers can bring one item of clothing to transform into something wild and new. The transformation will be permanent, so Thrift store items or clothes that no longer meet your needs as-is (maybe they're just too dull?) are highly encouraged. Additional fabric scraps and fancy embellishments (such as lace, metallic cording, buttons, etc.) are also encouraged. And a pair of sewing scissors for us to borrow, if you have one handy, would be fabulous!
Explore clay sculpture, yoga and belly dancing, and simply relish the ease of summer – Popsicles, henna tattoos, improv games, and lolling about... based out of my family's backyard art studio. Recycled and biodegradable materials will be employed in all our art projects. During the week, we will also take several field trips, including canoeing at the UW Arboretum and an afternoon at the beach. And Thursday night will include a feast and backyard camp out, which the girls will plan.
No art or dance experience necessary, just you and your imagination.
And the Director is: Margot Richardson, Artist, Teacher with over 25 years as a certified Art Specialist, Dancer, and Healer. I'm a seasoned, adventurous girl at heart, with a passion for all kinds of creativity. Questions? Please feel free to call or write me.

Shoreline Council of Neighborhoods meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month during the school year at the Shoreline City Hall.
Arthur Peach and Bettelinn Krizek Brown are your representatives now and Dan Henry is our alternate representative. It is important to have proper representation from our neighborhood because it gives us many benefits.
The Council of Neighborhoods is composed of the 14 neighborhoods in Shoreline. To qualify for the privilege to have free permits for block party street closures and to access the mini-grant money for neighborhood improvements and projects we are required to keep "Active Status." When a neighborhood does not meet the required representation the status changes to "Observer Status" and the benefits and privileges are lost.
Please try to attend these monthly meetings.
